Educating the educator: Kintsugi

Are you a nurse or Paramedic who educates, mentors, teaches or facilitates?   you give give give, but what puts back into your toolkit.   From time to time it is good to refresh teaching and learning theory.  Developing new teaching tequniques, and learn from others in the game.   We learn from each other when we attend networking face to face events like this.

Tackle that impostor syndrome, presentation anxiety, and the difficult learner.   We will refresh old friends like adult learning and visual aids like "powerpoint" , but most importantly learn from a seasoned educator who used story telling, Yalom's factors and humour to Season the dryest of your teaching topics.

This one day Seminar will refresh nurse educators and paramedic educators, teachers and facilitators  in Health disciplines to perform at a high level.  Not just adult learning theory, but modelling and practical application of peer to peer teaching and presentation techniques.

Content includes:

• Mentoring and Coaching
• Philosophy of Kintsugi
• The power of using visual aids / powerpoint and other IT as a teaching tool
• Voice dynamics, and effective presentation skills
• Core skills in demonstrating clinical skills.
• The persuasive conversation / audience Manipulation
• Group Facilitation using Yalom’s curative group work factors.
• Practical role play and mindfulness exercises.

 Kintsugi is the art of deconstructing  and reconstructing a crockery plate or bowl.  Sometimes we get stagnant in our teaching techniques, and to refresh and renew, Kintsugi will be our metaphor.

This Day will have a morning of theory, and an afternoon of group work, and role play.  You might even surprise yourself with some creativity.  Intrigued?
