ALS Course and Workshop

The Advanced Life Support Course (ALS1) is designed for nurses and doctors requiring an update on their Advanced Life Support certification as required by their workplace or agency. This course qualifies as nursing CPD Australia and is aligned with NMBA CPD requirements.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) is a highly sought-after competency required by many nurses, paramedics and medical staff. It builds on Basic CPR and the automated use of a defibrillator that the annual BLS program offers.

Using guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and the Australian and New Zealand Committee on Resuscitation (ANZCOR), the ECT4Health ALS course offers a certificate of completion for successful participants.

The program is pitched at clinicians requiring both BLS and ALS level 1 competency, with the workshop structured in two parts.

Part A: Pre-requisite of reviewing the ALS manual, completing the Rhythm Interpretation online module (part of our online nursing courses) and passing an online multiple-choice examination. These resources will be sent approximately 4 weeks prior and must be finalised no later than 1 week before the workshop.

Part B: Each participant attends a one-day workshop where four clinical skill sets are practiced and assessed using the familiar OSCE assessment.

Practical Assessment includes:

* BLS/CPR application of the DRSABCD mnemonic

* Airway management

* ALS1 management including defibrillation, drug therapy, and safe practice/communication

Quite simply the best ALS course you will ever do. Classes are capped to 6 with Rob or 12 with another instructor to assist.

This workshop offers a total of 18 CPD hours comprising 10.5 hours of pre-requisite online nursing CPD and pre-reading education, and 7.5 hours of one-day workshop.
